Where it all Began…
As a child, I adored everything about art.
I attended my first art class when I was around nine years old and would bring home what I thought was the most fantastic thing I had ever created (the painting labelled; "Painted C. 2005").
I remember how it felt when I brought my painting home and how the reaction I got from family and friends made me feel so full. Of course, I now realize that no one would tell a kid that their painting was no Monet, but it sparked something in me at a young age. However, for years, I convinced myself this wasn't a viable career path; it was more of a hobby, and eventually, I would study graphic design post-secondary and, later on, interior decorating. Let's just say I took the long way around to end up where I always knew I was meant to be. I also want to mention that I am grateful for my past internships and jobs. These experiences, combined with my love for art and design, led to the creation of BE Landscapes, a company where I blend my artistic skills with my passion for nature to create unique and inspiring landscape art.
In 2023, I attended a wedding in North Carolina (shout out to Magen and Bryan Cole). They had a beautiful ceremony on a lake, and at sunset, I couldn't help but take pictures of the sun reflecting on the water (hello, landscape artist!!) When I looked at the picture, it reminded me of the painting I was so proud of as a child. Maybe in my subconscious brain, I remembered this and, without knowing it, took a photo similar to my painting. But I also believe that there was a bit of fate wrapped in it. I think the universe was using this moment to remind me of the joy I felt as a child when I created art.
I recreated my 2005 painting using the photo I took in North Carolina as a reference to showcase how my skills have developed over the years. In the future, I will revisit this painting once more and compare my style and composition as an older woman.
As my company continues to grow, I am proud to reflect on my past work and recognize that I have come a long way and will gladly continue to paint for the little girl I once was.
